Logeye Stereo: 6% increase in yield at Maderas García Hermanos
Maderas García Hermanos is a family-owned company in Asturias, Spain, with over 60 years of experience in forestry and pine wood processing, now operated by the third generation. They specialize in transformed wood products, beams, and lumber derivatives, and for their production, they installed a Logeye Stereo and an Optiline.
The Logeye Stereo provides a 360° reconstruction of the log while it rolls onto the bandsaw carriage. Based on this data, the Optiline, together with Maxicut software, calculates optimized cutting patterns and displays them on the operator interface. The operator can then follow the suggested pattern, leading to faster and more accurate production. Overall, this has led to an increase in yield of 6%.
Another advantage the solution offers is the ease of training personnel, which is particularly relevant in a context where skilled operators are increasingly difficult to find. Cutting rules and parameters are defined once and applied consistently across all shifts. As optimization decisions are handled by the software, operators can execute cuts based on the provided pattern without making complex optimization decisions, ensuring stable and repeatable results.
